Job Description:
The Automatic Transmission/Driveline/Gear Reducer Application
Engineer will be a part of the Chief Engineering (CE) organization
to drive priority into the Propulsion System organization to meet
timing and requirements on product launches and serial life
production. This includes managing QTWC (Quality Total Warranty
Cost) priorities for the respective organizations. This role
coordinates with Product Releasing and Deveopment and Validation
teams so that they can create plans to meet their targets to reduce
three months in service (3MIS) claims and twelve months in service
(12MIS) warranty cost. In order to track vehicle applications and
timing, this role will manage the development of the Applications
Matrix including all interface requirements for given programs
including all variants and various vehicle platforms. They will
coordinate packaging studies with each vehicle application to
ensure all clearance requirements are met. The candidate will lead
advanced vehicle adaptation designs studies and freezes. They will
own the Transmission Technical Specification (TTS) and communicate
application specific requirements to the entire organization. This
will include coordination of Center of Expertise (COE) assessments
of bulletins and production release engineering responses for
required funding and resources. Responsibilities include: Manage
Quality Total Warranty Cost cross functional task force teams,
create priorities, action plans and track progress, align and
update initiatives list First responder to Component Quality
Analysis Team New Emerging Issue alerts. Interacting with DSE, MFG
and DRE to develop the next steps plan, document the plan to the
team Coordinate any next steps and track progress working side by
side with DSE/DRE setting up plans or tests needed Updating status
and results into GIMS, our Quality Initiatives documents and QEC
teardown results database. Manages the development of the
Applications Matrix including all interface requirements for given
programs including all variants and various vehicle platforms

adaptation designs studies and freezes Updates and coordinates
approvals of International Product Spec releases Updates and
coordinates approvals of owners manuals Updates and coordinates
approvals of CP, Compliance Report Standards Negotiates
requirements with vehicle platforms based on product limitations
and capabilities Owns the Transmission Technical Specifications
(TTS) and communicates application specific requirements to the
team (i.e. max torque, NVH, FE, tire size, FDR selection, mass,
etc) Defines and tracks adherence to robust vehicle level and
system level/sub-system functional objectives Coordinates external
design changes that require platform approval. Perform TOS as
required. Develops, manages & communicates external issues and
change management. Responsible for the review and approval of the
Application Checklist for each CN Coordination of application
specific designs (torque converter, dampers, vents, LV & HV wire
connections, bracket attachments, trans oil cooling, PIM and
e-motor integration, etc) including controls & calibration
strategies Represents chief organization on vehicle assembly plant
requirements & events (i.e. supports pilot builds, EOL test, VIN
marking, build issues, etc.). Development Manager leads vehicle
assembly issues. AE supports. Leads Build Readiness tasks
(instrumentation plan, dyno support) Coordinates COE assessments of
bulletins and AT engineering response to bulletins Manage prototype
hardware procurements and ED&D reqs Manage BRT (Build Readiness
Team) for prototype orders Lead for shipping & receiving
parts/transmissions for builds to/from suppliers
