Job Description Job Description Job Title: Urgent Hiring for Material Inspector and Sorter. Shift: 3:45 am - 1:15 pm (8-10 hours) Job Description The Metals Inspector is tasked with observing and monitoring the delivery of materials to ensure they meet quality and quantity specifications, while adhering to company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. This role involves assisting with daily production operations, as well as receiving and stockpiling materials and products. Responsibilities Inspect shipments of scrap metal received via truck, rail car, or ship to ensure material meets specifications and is free from environmental hazards. Correctly identify and record inspection data such as weight, grade, content, and quantity of scrap metal. Notify operations and commercial supervisors of problems and assist in recommending remedial procedures to correct violations or issues encountered during inspection. Perform duties in the scrap metal yard, including cleaning, sweeping, moving materials and scrap metal, eliminating debris and waste, and general facility upkeep. Essential Skills Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and techniques for maximizing the receipt and transfer of quality products. Attention to detail with at least 1 year of any type of inspection experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications 1 year of related work experience in construction, machine shop, manufacturing, or production. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work at a site in Oakland featuring both an indoor production area and a large outdoor yard. Expect a dynamic environment with heavy machinery, moving parts, loud noises, and a dirty setting. The role may involve working in either the Joint Products or another department, with the former being slightly indoors under a structure and the latter being in the open yard. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
