Akron General’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) encompasses both the 12-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and the 12-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). These units provide comprehensive, patient-centered critical care to diverse populations of patients ranging from young adults to geriatric patients. Patients in the ICU have a wide range of needs as these are Level I trauma, critical care and CRRT dialysis patients requiring one-on-one care. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts. A caregiver who excels in this role will: - Provide direct nursing care. - Implement and monitor patient care plans. - Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. - Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions. - Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. - Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: - Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program) - Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within first year of employment - External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience - Internal applicants: less than two years of experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer approval for internal applicants - Will consider licensed military RN experience Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: - Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) - TCAR certification Physical Requirements: - Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. - Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. - Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. - Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. - Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. - Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment: - Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Pay Range Minimum hourly: $41.00 Maximum hourly: $41.00 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
