Job Description MEDICAL DIRECTOR Administrative (75%) Clinical
(25%) Salary: $250,000 - $300,000 *Plus, additional income from
weekly patient encounters* Position Overview AmeriWound is seeking
an experienced and visionary Medical Director to join our Senior
Executive Team. This role provides strategic clinical leadership
and oversight across all affiliated providers and clinical
departments. The Medical Director establishes the organization’s
overall clinical vision and ensures excellence in wound care
delivery, education, quality assurance, compliance, and
credentialing. This executive-level and clinical leadership role
involves driving superior, provider performance, regulatory
compliance, while advancing innovative clinical programs. Key
Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Oversight Lead and direct
all Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers contracted with
AmeriWound and its physician affiliates. APP Supervision (as
needed) as per state regulations. Establish and direct the overall
clinical vision and strategy for the organization. Ensure
continuity, quality, and compliance of wound care services across
all markets. Develop and direct patient care protocols, policies,
and clinical best practices. Develop and oversee infection control
policies and hold providers accountable for compliance. Lead
innovative clinical initiatives, including telemedicine, biologics
and clinical advancement programs. Conducts limited weekly rounding
presence in skilled nursing facilities to ensure clinical
continuity and oversight. Provider Education, Performance &
Accountability Direct and oversee the Wound Education Department,
clinical audits, and compliance programs. Conduct monthly and
quarterly performance reviews with each contracted provider,
including: Provider performance results Production metrics Provider
improvement opportunities Provider adherence to company policies
and collaboration standards Conduct coaching, counseling, and
performance improvement plans as needed. Lead – Manage – Assign
monthly provider calls/meetings. Discipline or terminate
underperforming providers when necessary. Develop and administer
scope of practice requirements and credentialing standards.
Recruitment & Credentialing Collaborate with recruitment efforts.
Interview referred provider candidates and provide feedback in a
timely manner. Oversee provider credentialing and required
compliance audits. Quality Assurance & Compliance Direct
AmeriWound’s Clinical Wound Care Education team and provide
clinical oversight for AmeriWound Quality Assurance programs.
Provide written and verbal feedback to providers, Regional
Managers, Wound Care Education team, and Senior Executives. Develop
and administer clinical practices aligned with medical federal,
state, and payer regulations. Develop and maintain policies
protecting patient rights. Ensure HIPAA compliance across clinical
operations. Business Development & External Relations Periodically
participate in client and prospective client presentations and
meetings. Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare
providers, client skilled nursing and other long-term care
facilities, and other potential partners. Participate in meetings
with insurers and managed care payors as necessary. Perform other
duties as assigned by the CEO. Qualifications Education & Licensure
Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree required.
Active State of Ohio MD or DO license required. Current DEA
certificate required. Board Certification preferred. Current CPR
certification required. Experience Prior supervisory or medical
leadership experience required. Previous medical office or wound
care experience preferred. Understanding of long-term care
regulations preferred but not required. Strong understanding of
HIPAA and healthcare compliance. Experience with clinical audits,
quality assurance, and provider performance management preferred.
Skills & Competencies Excellent analytical and strategic planning
skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
High-level interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated
ability to coach, develop, and hold providers accountable. Strong
understanding of ethics, confidentiality, and regulatory
compliance.
