The following description and statements include those details necessary to describe the principal functions of the occupation and is not to be construed as an all-inclusive list of characteristics that are inherent to the job/occupation.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION STATEMENT: Move, erect, install, assemble, disassemble, align, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, fabricate parts, plumbing, and carpentry for all types of manufacturing, inspection, service equipment, and facilities requirements. Perform diversified welding, and brazing operations on a variety of machines, equipment, tooling, and construction. Layout, install, erect, and repair sheet metal items on machines, equipment, furnaces, and other systems.

  • Assistance may be given to other operators on proper operational procedures.
  • Perform housekeeping and other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Follow and maintain all safety procedures to insure the safest possible work environment.


  • Scope of occupation covers all equipment at the facility and any associated warehouses and/or satellite plants in the Pursuit Aerospace facility area.

  • Diagnose any mechanical or hydraulic troubles which may develop in the various machines, equipment, test stands, pump stations, etc. throughout the plant and make any repairs, replacement, or fabrication of defective parts or rebuilding of equipment necessary to correct the difficulty.

  • Disassemble the machine, locate the defective part, and remove for repairs or replacement.

  • In some cases, rework the worn or damaged part and, if necessary, make a new replacement part using the old part as a sample.

  • Replace worn bearings, bushings, cams, pulleys, etc. Clean and scrape machine ways and align machines.

  • May completely disassemble and rebuild all types of machine tools.

  • Set up and operate all types of machine tools for making replacement parts for manufacturing equipment.

  • Read layout drawings and manufacturers' blueprints to obtain location, fabrication, and assembly data. Erect scaffold, bracing devices, and overhead rigging to raise and position machines and equipment in the desired location.
  • Work with complex mechanical and hydraulic sketches and prints to perform work.

  • Perform rough carpentry in constructing skids, braces, and wedges and installing guide rails, guards, and other accessories. Use a wide variety of hand tools and heavy-duty handling equipment such as trucks, dollies, jacks, block and tackle, tractors, and rollers. May use torch to cut metal.

  • Install, repair and maintain high- and low-pressure lines, valves, fittings, and gauges to transmit and provide for the regulation or disposal of steam, air, hydraulic, oil, gasses, coolant, water, sewage, and other liquids.

  • Hook up various units such as furnaces, tanks, heaters, and other equipment involving utilities service.

  • Install and maintain all plumbing fixtures and equipment requiring the use of gas, water, steam, etc.

  • Fashion and apply various insulating materials to all necessary pipes, tanks, ducts, stacks, boilers, and other surfaces by using strips, sheets, tubes, compounds, and bulk materials and accessories.

  • Intermittently use wrenches, small tongs, and powered hand tools. Periodically transport production materials (i.e. WIP, parts, tools equipment, salvage material, scrap, and waste) to the next operation or designated location throughout the facility utilizing a powered industrial truck, powered industrial walk-behind, or pallet jack.

  • Make applications in accordance with accepted practices and specifications by wrapping, forming, blending, stuffing, or erecting to yield proper effectiveness and appearance.

  • Remove and dispose of insulating materials according to approved methods.

  • Work in conjunction with other trades to assist physically in performing total repair operation.

  • Train other Maintenance employees in proper procedures, methods, and techniques.

  • Able to occasionally lift 50 pounds during the shift.

  • Meets compliance requirements of all Pursuit Aerospace business conduct guidelines as applicable to this position.

  • Report to work in a consistent and regular basis and work an entire shift.
